The team of five LSRE-LCM researchers, João Sousa (PhD Student), Marta Barbosa (PhD Student), Ana Rita Ribeiro (Post-doctoral Researcher), Adrián Silva (Assistant Professor) and Fernando Pereira (Associate Professor) created the Waterfisher, a fishing water samples.
After applying for a National Patent through UP Inovation (Process number: Provisional Portuguese Patent n. 110349) and participating in the first edition of Business Ignition Programme in which the team awarded the second prize of BIP, the opportunity arises to promote the technology through a video made by the company Revisitar in partnership with UP Inovation.
With this promotional video, João Sousa, the main inventor, said that they can show the technology more clearly to potential investors, having already made contacts especially with international companies.
To remind: Water polution is global problem, and collecting water samples for analysis is not always easy. From LSRE-LCM/FEUP comes a cleaver and cost effective solution to improve water research. Waterfisher consists of a long-range surface water sampler, ideal for collecting samples in rivers, sea or other surface water compartments of difficult access.
