Manuel Fernando R. Pereira is Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (FEUP), since 2011. He obtained his Diploma in Chemical Engineering from the University of Porto in 1994. From 1994 to 1998 he carried out post-graduate research on carbon as a catalyst at FEUP, under the supervision of J.L. Figueiredo. In 1998 he obtained the PhD from the University of Porto. Between 1998 and 2000 he moved to CITEVE - Technological Centre for the Textile and Clothing Industries of Portugal, where he worked as R&D manager. In 2000 he returned to FEUP as assistant professor and joined the Laboratory of Catalysis and Materials (LCM). He is the director of the Integrated Master in Environmental Engineering at FEUP since 2013, member of Chemical Engineering Department Executive Committee since 2008 and Vogal do Colégio Nacional de Engenharia Química e Biológica da Ordem dos Engenheiros since 2013. He was awarded with the “Medalha Vicente Seabra” in 2008 by Sociedade Portuguesa de Química, and with “Prémio de Excelência Científica” in 2013 by FEUP.
