Sandrina Alves Heleno, graduated in Biotechnologic Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of Bragança in 2008, obtain her master degree in Biotechnology also at Polytechnic Institute of Bragança in 2010, and finish her PhD in Sciences- Chemistry at the University of Minho in 2014. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the CIMO and LSRE research centers. Her research interests are: Extraction, purification and characterization of bioactive compounds such as mycosterols present in mushrooms; Bioactivity of the extracts and isolated compounds of mushrooms: antioxidant, antitumor, antimicrobial; hypocholesteremic and anti-inflammatory activities; Development of novel functional foods through the incorporation of extracts and bioactive compounds into dairy products; Stabilization of extracts and compounds in foodstuff. At the moment she has 1 patent, 25 publications in indexed journals of high impact index, 3 book chapters and about 60 communications in national and international conferences, having been member as investigator of 4 research projects. She has also been supervising Master and bachelor students. (ORCID: http://orcid.org/0000-0001-7224-1098; ResearcherID: L-5951-2014; Scopus Author ID: 30067731800; H-index: 13).
