Carina Costa graduated in Chemistry at the University of Aveiro, in Portugal, in 2007. Two years later she finished her Master in Analytical Chemistry in the same university. In 2010 she earned a research fellowship at Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP, Portugal), Laboratory of Catalysis and Materials (LCM, Associate Laboratory LSRE-LCM) to work in IBEROMARE project focused in the valorization of marine resources and wastes. In 2017 Carina Costa concluded her Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering at FEUP with a thesis entitled “Vanillin and Syringaldehyde from Side Streams of Pulp and Paper Industries and Biorefineries”. Since then she has been working as researcher at the LSRE-LCM, FEUP, in the study of lignin valorization through the production of high added-value chemicals.
