Diogo F.M. Santos, completed the Master degree in Environmental Engineering, in 2014, at Faculty of Engineering of University of Porto (FEUP), Portugal. At the end of 2014 he joined the Associate Laboratory LSRE-LCM as Fellow Researcher as part of an European project (FREECATS) dealing with the preparation, characterization and evaluation of metal-free carbon materials for environmental catalytic applications. In 2015, he received a Ph.D scholarship funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT – Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia). In 2019, he completed his Ph.D degree in the area of preparation of macro-structured catalysts for environmental applications (removal of organic compounds from liquid effluents and abatement of volatile organic compounds in gaseous effluents), under the supervision of Dr. Manuel Fernando Ribeiro Pereira, Dr. Adrián Manuel Tavares da Silva and Dr. Olívia Salomé Gonçalves Pinto Soares. He then joined the European project UniRCell, with the objective of optimizing the preparation of catalytic membranes for fuel cell application.
