Rita Barros Receives Best Poster Award in Health & Biomedicine at Graphene Week 2026

Rita Barros, a PhD student at LSRE-LCM working under the supervision of Prof. Joaquim Faria and Prof. Cláudia Silva, received Best Poster Award on Health & Biomedicine at Graphene Week 2026.
The work presented, entitled "Graphitic Carbon Nitride as a Photosensitizer for Cancer Therapy", was carried out during a research stay at KU Leuven, supported by an EMBO Scientific Exchange Grant. This stay strengthened the partnership between the two research teams and encouraged innovative, interdisciplinary approaches to cancer treatment.
Graphene Week brought together more than 400 researchers, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and students in Porto from 21 to 25 September for the 21st edition of Europe’s leading conference on graphene and 2D materials, held in Portugal for the first time.
