Kirill Ispolnov got his Biochemistry BSc degree in 2000, and in 2007 he earned his PhD in Biochemical Regulation, both by the University of Lisbon. Since then, he has worked as assistant professor at the Department of Environmental Engineering at the Polytechnic Institute of Leiria, where he has lectured subjects in areas of Chemistry, Biology and Microbiology, Biological Reactors and Sustainable Development. In 2018 he concluded the curricular part of the Biotechnology MSc program at the New University of Lisbon (Universidade Nova de Lisboa), Faculty of Science and Technology, and is currently conducting research for his thesis.

His research interests include environmental sustainability and biological and nature-based approaches to environmental problems: biofuels, bioremediation, integrated multitrophic food production systems. Recent research has also been done in the area of workplace security and safety.
