Raquel O. Cristóvão graduated in Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (FEUP) in 2006 and got her PhD degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering with a thesis entitled Degradation of dye-containing textile effluents by enzymatic catalysis also at FEUP in 2010. From there she worked as Post-doctoral researcher at LSRE-LCM, FEUP, in biocatalytic reactions for toxic organic compounds degradation with free and immobilized enzymes in ionic liquids. She also made international collaborations with UFRJ, Brazil and University of Vigo, Spain, under some projects. During 2011 she started a new research line from where a new solution for in situ fish canning industrial wastewater treatment in order to recycle water for industrial process was developed. From 2014 to nowadays, after finishing the previous project, she decided to explore advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) using natural solar radiation for wastewaters treatment with toxic/refractory compounds.
