Joana F. J. R. Pesqueira has a Ph.D. (April 2023) and an MSc (July 2016) in Environmental Engineering, both from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP). Joana first joined LSRE-LCM in May 2017 as a researcher on the impact of advanced processes for water and wastewater treatment and mitigation strategies. In the same year, she won a Ph.D. grant under a call from the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT). The Ph.D. project, also developed in LSRE-LCM, focused on the life cycle assessment (LCA) of catalytic water treatment processes for the removal of micropollutants. This work resulted in published scientific papers as the first author in high-ranked peer-reviewed journals. During this time, Joana was also invited as an assistant to teach Master students in life cycle assessment using SimaPro, and was a co-supervisor of a Master’s Dissertation related to the quantification of scope 3 emissions for the assessment of global warming potential. She has been involved in communications related to LCA studies or the teaching of LCA, and both participated in and helped organize several scientific events.
Joana has a relevant experience in life cycle assessment (LCA), global warming adaptation and mitigation, and the determination of characterization factors for freshwater aquatic ecotoxicity assessment.
