Marta O. Barbosa (MOB) graduated in Environmental Engineering from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) in 2015. She obtained her Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering with a thesis entitled "Multi-layer carbon cartridges for determination of EU multi-class organic micropollutants" (Cum Laude distinction), also at FEUP in 2021. MOB joined the LSRE-LCM research team in 2015 for her Master's thesis and continued as a project researcher and Ph.D. student until 2021, specializing in analytical chemistry, nanostructured materials, and water monitoring and treatment.
Following the completion of her Ph.D., MOB worked as a post-doctoral researcher at MORE – Mountains of Research Collaborative Laboratory – Association in Bragança and as a contracted researcher at the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education (CIIE) of the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences (FPCEUP) in the fields of life-cycle assessment and Citizen Science, respectively. In July 2023, she returned to LSRE-LCM as a contracted researcher of the GIATEX project.
Currently, MOB is working on her Junior Research Contract (FCT Individual Call for Scientific Employment Stimulus, 6th Edition) under the project titled "FaRE - Fungal Resistance Early-warning: Monitoring Azoles in the Environment.
