Ricardo M. Ferreira is a Assitant Researcher at the Associate Laboratory LSRE-LCM, at the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto (FEUP), Portugal. He holds a degree in Biochemistry from the Faculty of Sciences, University of Porto, and an MSc in Biotechnology (specialization in Food Technology) from the University of Aveiro. In 2018, he began a research scholarship under the HEPA project, coinciding with the start of his PhD in Biotechnology at the University of Aveiro, where he developed food, cosmetic, and nutraceutical products from Opuntia ficus-indica. He joined the GIATEX Project in June 2023, focusing on intelligent water management in the textile industry, with a particular emphasis on circular economy and environmental sustainability and after completing his PhD, Ricardo went to work on smart packaging solutions for both poultry meat and seafood before returning to the GIATEX project in October 2024.
