Rui Ribeiro and Ana Sofia Santos are Fulbrighters 2022

June 2022

Since its creation in 1960, the Fulbright Commission in Portugal has developed an important role in the promotion of bilateral engagement and mutual understanding between the USA and Portugal, through its mission in the areas of education and science, by offering some of the most prestigious opportunities for the exchange of scholars, researchers, and students from both countries [full announcement available here].

This year, two LSRE–LCM researchers were recipients of Fulbright Portugal Awards!

Rui Ribeiro was awarded a Fulbright Research Grant for Scholars and Researchers with PhD, granting him the opportunity to conduct research activities as Visiting Fulbright Scholar at The City College of New York, NY.

Ana Sofia Santos was awarded a Fulbright Research Fellowship (with support from FCT) to carry out part of her PhD studies as a visiting student researcher at The University of Texas at Austin, TX.

Congratulations to both and best wishes for your stay at the USA!

Ana Gorito Gonçalves PhD thesis defense

LSRE-LCM congratulates Ana Margarida Gorito Gonçalves for her PhD thesis defense on May 23, 2022.

Ana finished the Doctoral Program in Environmental Engineering, with the PhD thesis entitled "Micropollutants in aquaculture: constructed wetlands and advanced oxidation technologies as prospective treatments" supervised by Professor Adrian Silva, Doctor Ana Rita Ribeiro and Doctor Cristina Almeida (CIIMAR).

The staff and team of LSRE-LCM wish Ana success for the new professional stage that will now begin!
