On the 5^th edition of the Water Festival Aquaporto 2018, organized by the municipal company Águas do Porto, the Associate Laboratory LSRE-LCM was represented through the project Water Circle, coordinated by the Post-Doctoral Researcher Rita Ruivo Marques, with the activity ‘Meeting Water Circle’. This action was developed in collaboration with the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education from the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences (CIIE - FPCEUP).

Together with Rita Marques, Marta Barbosa and Nuno Moreira (PhD students at LSRE-LCM), conducted brief sessions with the participants to discuss about emerging pollutants and the need to reduce their concentration in the environment, in particular antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs which have been detected in aquatic environments and even in drinking water. The problem was addressed regarding civic, industrial and political dimensions.

The event occurred on 28-30^th September in the City Park of Porto, counting with more than 20 000 visitors.

The 17th European Conference on Mixing will be held in 2021 in Porto, Portugal.

This successful conference series, which is organised by the European Federation of Chemical Engineering – Working Party on Mixing, has been running since 1974 and attracts academics and industrialists from all over the world to discuss progress on mixing technology, research and applications in the process industries.

The bid to organize its 2021 edition, MIXING 17, was proposed by Professor José Carlos Lopes, the Portuguese delegate to the Working Party on Mixing of EFCE.

The decision was known during the gala dinner MIXING 16, that took place between 9-12 September 2018 in Toulouse, France. At this conference, the Associate Laboratory LSRE-LCM was represented by several researchers from the Mixing Team, led by Professor José Carlos Lopes, Professor Madalena Dias and Doctor Ricardo Santos.
