LSRE-LCM researchers participated in organization of The Human Periodic Table

January 31, 2019

This year is “The International Year of the Periodic Table of Chemical Elements”, 150 years after its initial formation by the Russian physicist Dmitri Mendeleiev, by decision of UNESCO.

The first action pointed out the official international opening of the celebrations, it happened in emblematic Portuguese cities as Porto, Lisboa, Coimbra, Braga, Aveiro, Vila Real, Évora, Tomar, Funchal (Madeira), Covilhã, Faro e Castelo Branco.  In Porto it took place at Praça Almeida Garrett, in front of City Hall of Porto on January 29th, with the "construction" of a "Human Periodic Table". The initiative involved 1200 students from 16 schools in the Porto region and aimed to raise awareness among students and general public for the importance of this icon of Chemistry.

Members of LSRE-LCM and LEPABE of Faculty of Engineering of U.Porto (FEUP) have joined to Faculty of Sciences (FCUP) and Institute of Engineering of Porto (ISEP) to promote and participate in a series of commemorative activities always with the support and coordination of Portuguese Society of Chemistry.
