Best Oral and Poster Communications awards at CHEMPOR 2018

October 2-4, 2018

The 13th International Chemical and Biological Engineering Conference (ChemPor 2018) took place at Cultural and Congress Center of Aveiro from 2nd to 4th of October. The leading Portuguese event in Chemical and Biological Engineering Conference was organized by University of Aveiro and Ordem dos Engenheiros.

Associate Laboratory LSRE-LCM was strongly represented by 32 Researchers. During this International Conference, LSRE-LCM researchers presented 12 Oral Communications and 20 Posters Communications.

LSRE-LCM won 2 from a total of 3 Awards gave out by the Organizing Committee of ChemPor 2018!

Ana Catarina Moreira (PhD Student) has received the Best Oral Communication with her work “A novel continuous production of melamine based microcapsules with a skin-hydrating active principle for textile applications using the NETmix technology”. This work is a part of a co-promotion project called TexBioPro in partnership with University of Coimbra and the leader company, Devan Chemicals.

Joana Matos (Researcher Project) and Margarida Brito (PhD Student) have received the Best Poster Communication with their work “Lagrangian Mixing Simulation and Quantification of Scales”.

These awards comprise a certificate and a monetary prize.

LA LSRE-LCM congratulates the winners of the awards and also all the researchers who have participated at ChemPor 2018!

LSRE-LCM at Aquaporto 2018 with activity Meeting WaterCircle

September 28-30, 2018

On the 5th edition of the Water Festival Aquaporto 2018, organized by the municipal company Águas do Porto, the Associate Laboratory LSRE-LCM was represented through the project Water Circle, coordinated by the Post-Doctoral Researcher Rita Ruivo Marques, with the activity ‘Meeting Water Circle’. This action was developed in collaboration with the Centre for Research and Intervention in Education from the Faculty of Psychology and Education Sciences (CIIE - FPCEUP).

Together with Rita Marques, Marta Barbosa and Nuno Moreira (PhD students at LSRE-LCM), conducted brief sessions with the participants to discuss about emerging pollutants and the need to reduce their concentration in the environment, in particular antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs which have been detected in aquatic environments and even in drinking water. The problem was addressed regarding civic, industrial and political dimensions.

The event occurred on 28-30th September in the City Park of Porto, counting with more than 20 000 visitors.
