Francisca Moreira wins 2016 Best AOPs PhD Thesis

March 8, 2017

Francisca Moreira has received the 2016 best PhD thesis prize for her PhD thesis entitled Electrochemical Advanced Oxidation Processes:  Application to the Degradation of Synthetic and Real Wastewaters, supervised by Vítor Vilar (FEUP) and co-supervised by Rui Boaventura (FEUP) and Enric Brillas Coso (University of Barcelona).

This prize is awarded by the EU PhD School on AOPs to the candidate with the higher Impact Factor (IF) calculated as the average value of the 3 publications with the higher IF, where the candidate is first author.

Francisca is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at LSRE-LCM working on treatment of leachates from solid waste landfills and intensification of chemical and electrochemical advanced oxidation processes.

Natalia Rey wins AULA HUNOSA Prize

March 4, 2017

Natalia Rey was awarded with the Aula Hunosa prize for the best PhD thesis of 2016.

Her PhD thesis entitled Synthesis of Carbon Xerogels of Microwave-Induced. Design of Porous Materials à la Carte was developed at the Carbon Institute (Instituto del Carbón, Oviedo, Spain) belonging to the Spanish National Scientific Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, Spain) and intended to create new materials that combined their application and the reduction of costs. With this research work she has already registered a patent and obtained scientific recognition.

Since June 2016 Natalia Rey is Postdoctoral Researcher in the field of biomass-derived carbon materials applied to catalysis at LSRE-LCM.
