PhD student Mariana Miranda won the Academy Honorable Mention from Portuguese National Award for Journalism on Innovation by ANI

Mariana Nogueira Miranda, a PhD student at LA LSRE-LCM, won the Academy Honorable Mention category of the 3rd edition of the Portuguese National Award for Journalism on Innovation.

The winners of the 2020 edition were announced last week by ANI – National Innovation Agency – with the goal to celebrate the best news articles published in 2019 on scientific and technological innovation made in Portugal. The "Academy Honorable Mention" winner article was published in the university newspaper JUP, for which Mariana is also the editor in charge of the "Science and Health" section and author of the monthly rubric "Ciência Acontece".

Mariana joined the LSRE-LCM team in 2017 and is currently doing her PhD on microplastics behavior and attenuation, under the supervision of professors Fernando Pereira and Adrián Silva.

A workshop organized by Associação Nacional Dos Industriais De Conservas De Peixe (ANICP) will take place within the Project CONSERVAL on November 18th, 2020 at 14h.

CONSERVAL is a collaborative project between Spain and Portugal funded under the INTERREG V-A Spain-Portugal 2014-2020 Program (POCTEP). This project intends to create value from by-products and wastewater from the canning sector in Galicia and Northern Portugal, thus contributing to a circular economy and an innovative model that integrates all actors in the value chain.

Participation is free of charge.
