Ana Isabel Gomes is graduated in Biology (2003), from Faculty of Science, University of Porto (FCUP), holds a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering (2007) and PhD in Chemical and Biological Engineering (2021), both from Faculty of Engineering (FEUP). Her scientific domains are focused on water quality monitoring (chemical, bacteriological and ecotoxicological characterization), water disinfection and wastewater treatment (biological processes, AOPs driven by natural and/or artificial radiation and ozone-based), and process integration & intensification. She has been involved in several environmental monitoring projects, including in her MSc, and three R&D&I projects (2 national: SOLÁGUA, AdvancedLDT, and 1 international: FEUP/ENEL/2009), both with private companies’ partnerships and related to the development of environmental-friendly technologies for pollution control. Presently, A.I. Gomes has a research fellowship under a European project (NOR-WATER), focused on CECs removal from secondary treated urban wastewaters by application of different AOPs/photoreactors. She has 10 ISI papers (8 as the first author; 70% of them in Q1), completed the co-supervision of 1 MSc student, is now co-supervising 1 PhD student, and assisted the experimental work of several internships from mobility PhD students.
