Rui Ribeiro PhD Thesis Defense

July 9, 2018

LSRE-LCM congratulates Rui Sérgio da Silva Ribeiro for his PhD thesis defense on July 9th, 2018 at FEUP.

Rui Ribeiro finished his Doctoral Program in Chemical and Biological Engineering, with the PhD thesis entitled Synthesis of Hybrid Magnetic Carbon Nanocomposites for Catalytic Wet Peroxide Oxidation, supervised by Prof. Joaquim Faria and co-supervised by Prof. Helder Gomes and Prof. Adrián Silva.

We wish Rui success for the beginning of the new professional stage at LSRE-LCM!

Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT) at LSRE-LCM

July 9-12, 2018

Dr. Kiwoong Kim from the Korea Research Institute of Chemical Technology (KRICT) visited the Associate Laboratory LSRE-LCM guided by Professor Alírio Rodrigues, Dr. Alexandre Ferreira and Dr. Ana Mafalda Ribeiro. This visit took place between 9th to 12th of July, for the kick-off meeting of the new project, and discussion the ongoing and future work.

The collaboration between LA LSRE- LCM and KRICT dates back to 2009. This collaboration was first settled under the framework of the FP7 European Project – MACADEMIA (2009-2013). Since then the partnership was maintained, and the groups of Prof. Jong-San Chang and Prof. Alírio Rodrigues have co-authored many scientific manuscripts together and one patent.

In 2018 this bilateral collaboration achieved a new level with the participation of LA LSRE-LCM in a project funded by both KRICT and NST for 3 years (2018-2020). The Memorandum of Agreement between both institutions was signed in February.
