The 6th edition of the Water Festival Aquaporto entitled ‘Planeta Água’ took place at the Parque da Cidade do Porto, under the organization of the municipal company Águas do Porto. The Chemical Engineering Department (DEQ) of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) with the support of LSRE-LCM and LEPABE R&D units was present with some experimental settings designed to establish the communication about water treatment processes and monitoring of water pollution.
A group of researchers from different research units conducted brief scientific demonstrations and helped with the participants’ questions concerning water-related issues. This event is regarded as a good interface that brings closer Science and Society, by improving the way researchers communicate science to non-specialized audiences.
The festival occurred on 11-13th October, counting with more than 10 000 visitors.
