Ana Patrícia Lourenço, researcher at LSRE-LCM/ALiCE, received the Best Poster Award at the 3rd Iberoamerican Congress on Chemical Engineering (CIBIQ), held jointly with the 15th European Congress of Chemical Engineering (ECCE) and the 8th European Congress of Applied Biotechnology (ECAB) in Lisbon, from September 8 - 10, 2025.
The winning poster, titled “Treatment of Pulp and Paper Process Water: Effective Removal of Optical Brightening Agents for Industrial Water Reuse,” was co-authored by Ana P. Lourenço, Rita Fernandes, Ana Rita Ribeiro, and Adrián Silva.
This work is part of the European project RESURGENCE, which focuses on applying advanced oxidation processes (AOPs) for the treatment and reuse of industrial wastewater, in this case from the pulp and paper industry, promoting sustainable water management and circular economy principles.
LSRE-LCM congratulates Adriano Silva for hhis PhD thesis defense on September 16, 2025. Adriano finished the Doctoral Program in Chemical and Biological Engineering, with the PhD thesis entitled Sustainable management of municipal solid waste through waste collection optimization and plastic upcycling, supervised by Helder Gomes (CIMO), Ana Isabel Pereira (CIMO) and Adrián Silva.
