Doctor Raquel Rodrigues, LSRE-LCM alumni, won the Best Portuguese PhD Thesis sponsored by the Portuguese Society of Biomedical Engineering and Fraunhofer AICOS, with the work “Magnetic carbon nanostructures and study of their transport in microfluidic devices for hyperthermia”.
Doctor Raquel Rodrigues developed her PhD work between 2014-2018 at LSRE-LCM (FEUP and Instituto Politécnico de Bragança) under the supervision of Professor Adrián Silva from LSRE-LCM at FEUP and the Coordinator Professor Hélder Gomes from LSRE-LCM at IPB.
The award comprises a monetary prize and a certificate of the Best Doctoral Thesis Award in Biomedical Engineering which was attributed during the 15th MEDICON (Mediterranean Conference on Medical and Biological Engineering and Computing, hosted in Coimbra, Portugal, from 26th to 28th of September).
The work was also published as a book chapter of International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (IFMBE) proceedings book series by Springer, Cham.

LSRE-LCM congratulates Marta Filipa Ferreira Pedrosa for her PhD thesis defense approved by the jury.
On September 20th, 2019 Marta Pedrosa finished the Doctoral Program in Chemical and Biological Engineering, with the PhD thesis entitled "Graphene-Based Catalytic Membranes for Water Treatment" supervised by Prof. Adrián Silva and co-supervised by Prof. José Luís Figueiredo.
